Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some answers to common patient questions.  Be sure to review any questions you may have with your doctor before surgery and that the answers are clear. All surgeries have risks and benefits and it’s important to understand what’s right for you ahead of time. Ask for clarification if you have trouble understanding an answer or any medical terms. Sometimes it’s helpful to write questions down beforehand. We have found that a well-informed patient is a more satisfied patient.

Is your facility covered by my insurance?

We are providers of Medicare part B and several commercial insurance companies including Blue Shield, Anthem, United Healthcare. Our administrative staff is happy to look into insurance carriers for you and help confirm benefits.

How do I schedule surgery at your facility?

Once you’ve seen a physician about your condition, he or she will send a referral to a  surgeon affiliated with our facility. You may also contact us directly to schedule a consultation.

Will someone call me to prepare me for surgery and how will I know what time my procedure is scheduled?

A pre-op nurse will phone you one day prior to your surgery date. During this call the nurse will inform you of your arrival time and prepare you for your procedure. Questions about your surgery or concerns can be addressed during this time. If you have additional questions the nurse can help connect you to the appropriate department.

Can you tell me how much the procedure is going to cost?

Once we have obtained information and proper procedural codes from your surgeon we can follow up and help explain any estimated patient billing responsibilities.

When is the last time I may eat and drink?

8 hours before your surgery time

When can I eat again after surgery?

You may begin to eat again once you can tolerate fluids without any nausea.

When can my family see me after surgery?

Family members and friends of patients are instructed to wait outside in their vehicle. Family members or support persons of minors and dependents may, with permission,  join you later in the Recovery Room. Please check with the facility staff for current visitor policies.

How long does recovery take?

Each recovery time is different and depends on the patient.  We like to make sure you are free of any nausea and your pain is tolerable. Be sure to review anticipated recovery times with your doctor prior to surgery.

Can I take a taxi home?

You may take a taxi as long as you are accompanied by an adult, otherwise it is our policy to request you arrange a caregiver/supporter to drive you home. We offer transportation services yet there are some limitations on this service. Please inquire with our staff.

Can you help me schedule a visit to the surgeon?

Yes.   We can refer you to one of our surgeons.
